How Ready Are Youth Workers for the Digital Future?

How ready are youth workers for VR, AR and the Metaverse? Join our survey and help shape the digital future!

Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Extended Reality (XR), and the Metaverse… These technologies are increasingly shaping how young people learn, communicate, and experience the world. For youth workers, these tools present new opportunities—but also new challenges.

To what extent are immersive technologies being used in youth work? How familiar are youth workers with them? Where are they most effective, and where is more support needed?

Through the MEFER project, we aim to gain a deeper understanding of these questions and help youth professionals develop the skills they need to thrive in digital environments.

About the MEFER Project

MEFER (Metaverse Futures: Education Beyond Realms) is a two-year Erasmus+ project that brings together six partner organisations from across Europe. The project focuses on equipping youth workers with the digital skills necessary to navigate and support young people in immersive digital environments, such as AR, VR, and the Metaverse.

One of the core partners, YES (Young Entrepreneurs Society) from Poland, plays an important role in reaching grassroots youth organisations, particularly those working with disadvantaged young people. As a youth organisation itself, YES ensures that MEFER’s actions remain inclusive, needs-based, and grounded in the everyday realities of youth workers.

Help Us Understand Your Needs

As part of the project, we are currently conducting a needs assessment survey to gain a better understanding of how immersive technologies are used in youth work, identify existing barriers, and determine the type of support professionals require.

The survey is now open to all youth workers, educators, and mentors across Europe. Deadline for participation: 31 July 2025

Why Your Input Matters

By sharing your experiences, whether you frequently use these technologies or have no prior experience at all, you are helping us build practical and inclusive tools for youth workers throughout Europe. Your feedback will directly inform the development of our training modules and an interactive 3D learning platform.
